Bethany’s Balm Women’s Ministry
“May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May He send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.”
Psalm 20:1-2
Why Bethany’s Balm?
Bethany is the name of a place in the Bible. Jesus often went to Bethany to find a quiet place to rest. We know this place was significant in Jesus’ life and ministry because of the many events that took place there.
In Matthew 21, Jesus visited Bethany after cleansing the temple, days before his crucifixion Jesus rested at Bethany (Matthew 26), Jesus performed miracles at Bethany (John 11), he was worshiped at Bethany (Mark 11 and 14), Jesus taught at Bethany (Luke 10), and as a final act in his ministry Jesus ascended to heaven from Bethany (Luke 24).
Part of the balm that Jesus encountered at Bethany was in the form of his friendships with Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Their hospitality, service and love provided a safe resting place for their Lord.
Our Goal:
The Women’s Ministry at Oak Grove Church desires to provide a safe resting place, a “Bethany”, for women in and outside of the church. We do this through Bible study, fellowship, fun and ministry. Our desire is to care for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of women.
Bethany’s Balm coordinates Fall and Spring Bible studies, meals for families in need, wedding and baby showers, an annual women’s retreat and a Fall Tea. We seek to foster deep, meaningful relationships with accountability and prayer.
